I know it's been over a month since I've posted a recipe but I'm back. A friend of mine recommended I tired making cream puffs so that's what I did. These were super easy to make and it's pretty hard to mess them up. They also didn't take much time at all to make. So here's the recipe, it's great for beginners:
Ingredients: Dough
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted sweet cream butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar
- 4 eggs
Ingredients: Filling (Both chocolate and vanilla)
- heavy whipping cream
- vanilla extract
- powdered sugar
- instant pudding of your choice (for the chocolate filling I used chocolate pudding)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and butter or grease a cookie sheet
- In a pot bring the water to a slight boil
- Add your butter and stir until the butter has fully melted then add the salt and sugar
- Once everything has melted down add the flour in all at once and stir quickly, this will begin to form a dough.
- Continue to stir for about 2 minutes and the dough should be completely formed and there should be a thin film at the bottom of the pot
- Transfer your dough to a separate bowl and mix in each egg one at a time stirring in between.
- You should be left with a dough that has a more watery consistency, take this dough and separate it into however many puffs you'd like on to the cookie sheet- the amount can vary depending on how big or small you'd like them to turn out
- Bake them for 25 minutes or until they turn a golden brown- DO NOT open the oven while it's baking, let them bake for at least 20 before opening the oven to check on them
- While they're baking create the vanilla whipped cream filling by using the whisk attachment on your hand mixer and mixing the heavy cream, powdered sugar and vanilla extract until a whipped cream is formed. This might take a while to be patient
- For the chocolate filling I used half of the whipped cream and added chocolate pudding mix. I mixed with a spatula until fully incorporated
- Once the puffs have baked let them cool for 20 minutes, and once they've cooled you may use a piping bag or cut them in half to fill them with the vanilla or chocolate filling
- Finally, sprinkle them with some powdered sugar and you're done. A super easy pastry for any occasion!!
I hope you try this recipe for yourself and if you do please comment how they turned out. Enjoy! :)
