I've been looking into how technology can be used in an ethical way and the negative effects of automation that are brushed under the rug. We all know that with automation comes job losses but I never realized how abrupt these changes come to workers that are being laid off. These people have a job one day and the next they have no idea what lies in their future. I feel that companies that implement these changes onto their workers have a responsibility to give these people options and either help them find new employment or help them clear up the next steps they're going to take rather than just forgetting about the human impact. Technology has had many positive contributions towards humanity but I've noticed that company's think more about the money rather than an ethical way of improving efficiency while also growing their business. Perhaps a balance between the actual people who work and the machines made to help can help improve issues like these. Everyone wants to see technology improve (especially me) but I feel like some aren't ready to deal with the repercussions that come with it.
